How to type it
There's no universal keyboard shortcut for star symbols, so copying directly from the grid above is usually the fastest method.
On Windows, open Character Map (search "charmap" in the Start menu), find the character by name, and copy it — or use Word's Alt+X trick: type the hex codepoint (2605) right after the cursor, then press Alt+X to convert it.
On Mac, press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer, then search for "black star" or browse by category.
On iPhone and iPad, there's no built-in picker for most of these characters — copying from this page is the practical option.
In Word, use the Alt+X trick above, or go to Insert > Symbol > More Symbols and search by Unicode name or codepoint (U+2605).
In Google Docs, go to Insert > Special characters and either draw the shape or search by name.
