How to type it
$ (DOLLAR SIGN) has a real Windows alt code, so on Windows you can hold Alt and type the code on the numeric keypad — check the alt code column in the table above for the exact number. This only works with a physical numeric keypad or Fn+NumLock on a laptop.
On Mac, press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer and search by name — some Mac keyboard layouts also have a direct Option-key shortcut for this character; check System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Input Sources if you use one regularly.
On iPhone, press and hold the relevant key on the keyboard if a shortcut exists, or copy the character directly from this page.
